Building a Strong Foundation

“They wanted to destroy the Deities?” Sylvain stammered in disbelief, his elfin eyes open wide. “That is blasphemy! No being should disrespect the Pure Dragons which fight alongside the Pure Lights!”
The four Rayners lowered their spoons as well as their faces. “Well… if you haven’t heard of the Dragon Vanquishers…” Little muttered.
“We already heard of them… You may think of us as primitive, but we do have magic and technologies equal to that of you humans have. And we already know a lot about the main leagues in Angelianna,” Troy spoke, swirling his spoon while staring at it seriously. “The Dragon Vanquishers, as what their name says, is a league meant for evil, even before the people would know…”
He stood up from his seat, only taking a chicken sandwich, before going to the porch of the dining area. “Long before, they are already a threat in humans and dragons alike. Many years ago, they were an uproar, and were believed to be extinguished… But then after those years, they reformed again, and secretly, they operate to get their aim…” He bits the sandwich and ripped it off, startling the visiting Rayners.
“That is to take control of the Pure Dragon Powers right?” Lance spoke, slightly raising his left hand. Troy nodded seriously. “And now, Angelianna is once again in trouble of suffering yet another war, which we do not know when it will happen…”
“My prophecies are scaring me day by day,” Sarah mumbled, bowing her head, giving the slightly dim face that made Little worry. “The nightmares… the petals fall slowly…” she moaned before holding her head in fear, causing Little and Pauline to hurry and comfort her.
“Prophecies? Could it be the same as Tsunayoshi and Feykro told us?” Little mumbled.

Pauline gave a long sigh before speaking, “We do not know… Sarah is a poetic girl, and she can somehow see the future with the movement of the plants. But then if it’s to control the powers, then why would they consider killing the Deities?”
“There are two reasons that could match their motives of killing the Deities,” Argie spoke, fluttering around the tables. “One is to keep us from hindering their plans. As we seek Messengers, we are also seeking for the Pure Dragons which remain alive. And because the Pure Dark Dragon Azeral has copies of our strength, we are not needed…”
“So that makes us three nothing more than a threat to them… That’s why they wanted to end us three…” Suntoria added.
“But then if Azeral has your powers…” Lloyd muttered, thinking a bit. “That makes him strong enough I guess…” “Or not yet stronger…” Argie interrupted. “The Vanquishers are trying to control the still existing Pure Dragons… I believe those sneaky bastards are up to something which is related to Azeral!”
“Whatever motive they had, they must be stopped!” Sylvain announced, clenching his right fist hard. “Pauline, as the leader of Bloom and Doom, I would like to have Mand Rayne as our ally!”
“Wuh? You serious dad?” Pauline replied with wide eyes. “Well that’s really great! I’d be glad to become your ally Mand Rayne!” she added, hopping before handing her hand for a shake.
The four were surprised with the sudden welcoming of a new league. They were very glad to accept the offer, but~ “Well, we need Shiroaka to accept the request,” Spear chuckled, causing the four to settle down suddenly, mumbling.

Two guards suddenly entered the dining room, saluting the king, before speaking, “Milord, we have more visitors outside. They said they’re from Mand Rayne and they’re looking for the Messenger and her companions.”
“Let them in. They are our allies,” Sylvain ordered, and the two guards left. Lance then looked at the window viewing the town, seeing three more people they’re familiar with, one is clearly recognizable with the blonde hair.
“Well it’s Shiroaka, Maeri and Nini! Also Harmony!” Lance shouted at them, making Little chortle. “Speak of the Serpent!”
“Oh, so your leaguemaster is here… or is it Roxis?” Pau mumbled. Later, the guards returned, bringing in the four. “Here they are, Milord!”
“Ah, more of the Mand Rayne! And this couldn’t be! The Pure Ice Dragon!” Moriko yelped. “Uhh…” Shiro looked around blankly, nervous and at the same time, confused. Maeri then nudged the lad. “Psst, relax there…” she whispered.
“Hey Shiro, we have a new ally league!” Little said, pulling Pauline. “The Bloom ‘n Doom wants to join forces. Pauline is their leader, and she’s ready!” “Umm, hi~! You look so handsome for a Pure Ice Dragon eh,” Pau greeted the bashful guy.
“Huh? But Roxis hasn’t returned back yet!” Shiro stammered, scratching head.
“A Vice could manage the agreement between leagues if the Leaguemaster isn’t available. Shiroaka, if I’m correct, my daughter Pauline’s league wants to join forces with your league. The test, however, is already been executed, as Suntoria’s allies will be our allies. Will you allow?” Sylvain sincerely spoke.
The dining Rayners then looked at the blonde with awe, as they were trying to convince him. Shiro then thought for a moment before breathing a puff of air, before speaking, “Alright then, I’ll just make it short since I’m not good with formal speeches. Mand Rayne and Bloom ‘n… name?”
“Bloom ‘n Doom!” Little mumbled. “Okay, Bloom ‘n Doom guild is now an official ally of Mand Rayne,” Shiro finished it with a handshake from Pauline.

“Ah, we're very grateful of your acceptance. Now why not you four join us here? There are still lots of food for you to eat before going back to your work as a league,” Moriko welcomed them out to the dining table. At first glance on the dessert, Shiroaka did not hesitate and grabbed a seat.
“Sheesh, Shiro, what’s with the rush? It’s kinda embarrassing to just jump to the… Oh no wonder… Zodiac cakes?” Maeri stuttered, eyeing the three cakes on the center.
“Ah well my daughter Sarah baked them. She currently knows the Earth Sign cakes- they are mostly chocolate or mocha flavor…” the queen spoke at them. “You may take one whole if you wish young lady. We have a lot of Zodiac Earth Cakes here…”
“My sign is Cancer, but I like chocolate cake,” Sarah giggled, slicing one of the cakes. “Well I’m, uhh, not even a fan of horoscopes and how they depict one’s destiny…” Maeri chuckled. “FYI, she’s a Virgo,” Shiro grinned, causing her to squint.
“That is ok. We had a lot of Virgo cakes here. Mother told me a person who eats the cake of his/her Zodiac will be lucky, that’s why I’m still researching for the others,” Sarah laughed, handing the two girls a slice each. “Well can I have a Taurus one since I’m born under the sign?” Little chortled. The young princess nodded.
“I wonder what horoscope is the Pure Ice Dragon being born?” Sarah laughed, though Shiro would just not bother. “Well, I’m Leo, Troy is Aquarius, mom is also Cancer and dad is a Libra,” Pauline chattered.
“I still don’t get what are horoscopes for…” Harmony muttered, one ear flap drooped down. “Just don’t ask me about it. After all I’m not a fan of my own sign… Wish I could have been a Leo since that sounds valiant…” Maeri grumbled.
“And I’m Aries here!” Nini raised her hand, causing Sarah to look at her and turned wide-eyed. “This girl… could she be…… The sky meets the earth…… another of my prophecies…”
“Huh, what’s wrong with her?” Nini mumbled, tilting head as she looks at Sarah. The princess approached her and touched her palm.

“…… Warm hands… I can feel a strong current of energy flowing like a wild, gushing river. You must be one!” Sarah said, eyes widely staring at Nini.
“Huh? Sarah, you mean she’s also a possible Messenger?” Argie stammered. The girl thought for a while, before nodding. “She is a possible person fit to see the Pure Earth Dragon Himalaya.”
“Whoa, really? Am I also another chosen one?!” Nini stuttered, standing up from her seat like a spring. “There is a possibility… Himalaya would call you if you are the one, but of course, you have to be aware,” Sunny said.
“Aware of…” Nini mumbled, eager to listen to the spirit. “Be aware of the possible test you will undergo once you meet him in person. I believe he will choose the right one, however, his test will probably be harder than mine…” Sunny replied, swirling around Nini.
“Be also aware of the Vanquishers and their motives to destroy the last tomb,” Troy muttered, still leaning at the pillar in the balcony. “They will not let failure cross their path again. I’m sure they’ll be on their job to seek Himalaya’s tomb, which is still a mystery place that only the Chosen One will be able to find out…”
Nini gulped in anxiety after hearing this, but then she smirked and said, “Well if that’s the case, I’d openly accept his offer! I wanted to be strong like Lance when we were still detectives. So I’m grabbing this opportunity right away! And we will all stop those nasty Vanqs altogether!!” she announced with zeal, shaking her fist in the air, followed by a series of chattering and cheering in the dining room.
“Lance… I just wanted to be like you… I don’t want to stay weak. I want to be strong……” Nini said in mind, looking at the smiling detective. “And of course, I’ll find the hat that will suit me, like yours~!”

Meanwhile…
“Hmm… I’ve been thinking of this a lot already,” Aussie mumbled, scratching her hair before putting back her treasured hat on. “Since Senior and Mrs. Realyn are a part of our league, and Senior is still the leader of Shadow Busters, would that make the two leagues official allies?”
All of the Rayners were currently out of the base, leaving Annabelle, Shinobu and the Carinos in charge. Girouette, Fenrir, Alice, Alastair, Austina, Iuri and Rexiel were currently stopping over Orichalian after they helped the Shadow Busters in clearing the forest from any Vanquisher traces.
“Hmm, now you’ve mentioned it. I was also thinking of the same,” Alice mumbled, stirring the noodle soup. “But in Rand Maine, league alliance is rare… In fact, all of the leagues there are allies with each other, in terms of protecting the place…”
“Well, if there’s an agreement signed by the two parties, they are considered allies, here in Angelianna,” Fenrir said. “Minor leagues usually join forces to build stronger leagues. Somehow, those who unwittingly made alliances with the Vanquishers are a goner now, because the league absorbs the joining league and turning them into Vanqs as well.”
“Gross, if it’s like muck! I won’t trust our league onto that tainted bunch of hooligans! ” Aussie groaned. “So yeah, most leagues avoid DV. And they’re trying to join forces with the other major league such as Ant Samurai, Gulu Drop, Cthulhu Spears and Shadow Busters,” Fenrir continued.
“Well, why not we try and join forces with them as well, nya?” Ruvi suggested. “Well that will be from Roxis and the vices…” Fenrir grinned. “Speaking of which, isn’t Girouette a vice chairman too?” Rexiel muttered.
“Good question. Talk about our high-seaters in Mand Rayne…” Alice mumbled, tapping her fingers on the table.
“From what I could remember, the organization tree was set like this: Roxis being the first guildmaster, Shiroaka being the second guildmaster, and the Vice Chairmen were Mike, Lance and me… Also, I believe Maeri will get a promotion sometime from now on due to her gradually increasing valor for the league. That will depend, but yeah, the first six I’ve mentioned were the guild’s organization tree,” Ruvi muttered.
“Hey, I wonder if your league has five classes like ours?” Aussie raised her hand. “Classes? Hmm, think Rox had named our classes already…” Ruvi mumbled. “Oh right. From fifth to first, we got Kanto for the newcomers, then Johto and Hoenn. The Vice Chairmem are Sinnoh ones, and that’s where I’m included. The leader is Unova though.”
“Ah. Ours were Puppy, Hunters, Odium, Darkaxe and our Leader as the Darklord. And my rank in Shadow Busters…” She would giggle, causing everyone to baffle. “Eh, at your current state, you look like you’re a Puppy and not a Darkaxe or Odium,” Iuri sarcastically laughed.
“Oh well, we Twelve Hounds won’t spill our ranks, since we are the ‘secret’ force of Shadow Busters…” Aussie sneered with sass. Again, the Rayners would squint at her. “Umm, well, if you’re really curious, then Shadow Busters and Mand Rayne should make alliance first! But then I don’t think it will be easy for you guys to. Making pacts means tests…”

Back in the base…
Rosette was heard humming while she carries a tray of vegetable soup, beefsteak and rice to the infirmary, where Shinobu still stays. “Hmm… I think he’s all good now… A great meal for someone who wakes up after resting~”
As she arrives, she noticed something different… “Hmm… why is the bed…” She placed the tray down on one side, before checking closer. “Empty…” She shifts her sight, only to find her daughter Flynn, bringing some clothing.
“Huh? Oh Mom…” Flynn spoke, placing the clothes down. “Where’s Shinobu?” she asked. The girl was pointing in the infirmary bathroom, before the door opened, revealing a man in bathrobe. Lavender scent wafted from the bathroom, as he goes out.
“Ah Shinobu! You’re awake…” Rosette chortled. The lad just looked at her with his ebony eyes. “Umm, Shinobu, here are your clothes now…” Flynn muttered, handing over his clothes while not looking at him.
“Ah, thank you…” He said as he took them. “Umm, may I have some space to dress up?” he muttered at the two, causing them to nod and close the curtains…
“Since when was he awakened?” Rosette asked her daughter. Flynn thought for a moment before saying, “About 10 minutes when I was tending him… He seemed in a rush…”
“In a rush?” Soon enough, they felt the wind blew throughout the infirmary. Flynn immediately checked Shinobu out and… “MOM!!”
“What’s the matter?! Who opened… !!” The two were left speechless when they saw one of the windows were opened. The food tray was half-finished, and to top it off… “Where did Shinobu went?”
The plan to destroy the Deities were held true by Suntoria and Argentum, hence Mand Rayne should take action upon saving the last Deity. The second princess of Hanging Gardens, Sarah, confirmed the possible candidate for the Pure Earth Dragon's Messenger, which is Nina. How will the girl's valor please Himalaya's impression?
Meanwhile, the other Rayners would talk about alliance. And back in Dewfield, Shinobu has recovered, but what was in his mind, that he hurried out after he recovered?
